The new model may join the EOS 5D Mark II in offering a video function, though there are differences. One of the most obvious is the fact that a different sensor is being employed, and so not only do you lose your wideangle shooting possibilities, but extreme depth of field effects are slightly harder to obtain. In terms of the recording there's the full 1920x1080p resolution of the EOS 5D Mark II, but at 20fps instead of the 5D Mark ll's 30fps. You can shoot at 30fps, though at the maximum resolution of 1280 x 720p. There's no microphone input too, so only mono sound may be obtainable via the camera's integrated microphone, though the same H.264 codec is used, and files are output as .mov files.
