M Manual Focus

This is available for lenses that don't support AF or when auto focus is not suitable for a particular subject. In these circumstances the lens or the focus mode is set to 'M' manual and the focus ring adjusted until the subject appears in sharp focus. The shutter can be pressed at any time whether the subject is in focus or not.

Up until 2005 I used manual focus on the following lenses for all of my wide angle work:

However, with the Nikon 12 mm—24 mm lens the manual gear on my housing became necessary to act as a zoom gear. I had only one choice and that was to use full auto focus. Since this time I have used AF with wide angle and not missed it in the slightest!
