Capturing Silhouettes

To shoot a silhouette, you place a subject between the lens and the sunlight. The closer the subject is to the lens, the darker the subject is recorded and the more pleasing the silhouette!

This is a relatively easy shot to take. A wide angle lens is preferable because it will allow you to get closer to the subject and fill the frame. If you do not place the subject close to the lens, the contrast will not be as effective and the particulates in the water column between lens and subject will diminish in both quality and sharpness.
