Using Your Business Photos

Capturing your photos is only half the story; how you use them is an important key to their value and effectiveness. Yet this critical issue, which was once the bailiwick of graphics designers and publicity specialists, is now often left in the hands of executives or their assistants. The thinking behind this trend is that it is now so easy to place photos into all kinds of documents, presentations, and communications that anybody can do it.

Of course, that's true. But it does require an awareness of design and logistics to do it well. Some concerns you need to consider include:

■ Ascertaining whether photos from different shoots really belong on the same page
