Printers and Consumables

Chances are that your desktop inkjet printer can generate photo-quality prints, even if it weren't originally designed for that purpose. You may need to buy and install photo inks and use special

photo paper, but the results will probably be quite satisfactory for most purposes. Monochrome printers, such as business laser printers, aren't much good in outputting photos, however. If you are considering a desktop photo printer, we suggest reading Chapter 20 before buying.

Depending upon your brand and model printer, it may be possible to print on canvas, art paper, matte paper, and a wide variety of surfaces and textures. Some papers come as templates, such as party invitations or business cards with blank areas reserved for printing your photos. You can check out some of the different types of papers by browsing the shelves at stationery and computer stores.
