I Since buying a Canon EOS 1000D, I have had queries that I have been unable to get satisfactory answers for. First, the camera battery; the handbook makes no reference to an initial charge, only that the re-charge time is two hours. It goes on to say that if you do not intend to use the camera for some time you should remove the battery, but that you should not store the battery in a charged condition. When I contacted Canon to ask how you discharge the battery, I was told to leave it in the camera! My other query is regarding the viewfinder and LCD screen. The handbook then says that if you don't intend to use the viewfinder while composing a picture, use the supplied viewfinder cap to cover it up to prevent light getting in and possibly affecting the picture exposure. I have asked Canon how you can compose a picture on screen, but was told that the EOS 1000D was not built in a way to allow this. I cannot believe that a firm like Canon would tell you how to cover up the viewfinder and then not allow you to use the screen to compose a picture.

Why do I keep getting these white marks?
