The best qualification for obtaining a job in industrial photography is a degree from a recognized college or university. The course of study should include a large amount of technical photography, photo lab technology, and basic video, as well as artistic and design courses. Experience in any kind of photography, in addition to training, is also a plus.
Most beginning jobs are specialized, such as processing and laboratory work, but advancement does require the ability to be flexible and versatile. Each company has its own unique photographic requirements, and most departments are specifically designed to meet these needs.
